baseball {fall 2012}

Garrett has really improved his hitting this season. During this game he scored two times! On his first at bat, he hit the ball straight down the middle and made it to first base. He was able to steal 2nd and 3rd and eventually slid into home for the score.

It was very exciting for us and for Garrett.

destroyers baseball 2012

Garrett is playing baseball again this season, his team is the Destroyers. It is a really great team and his coaches are great, but we are looking forward to a break this summer :)

Garrett has had the opportunity to be one of the team catchers this season. He likes it because it is more action than being in the outfield. He is pretty good at it too!

baseball

It is really fun to go to Garrett's baseball games and cheer him on. His team decided to call themselves the White Knights. It is such a great time to spend with the other families and friends. Grace and Jack have lots of fun playing with all the baseball siblings in the shade. I am sure by the last game we will all be cooking in the sun, but for now it is perfect!

catching

This season Garrett has had the opportunity to try catching. It is a different experience for the kids, because they have to wear all sorts of extra gear.

He didn't hate it, but it is not his favorite thing to do in a baseball game. These pics are from practice, but he also was the catcher for one inning during the game on Saturday.

The other thing about being a catcher this time of year is the heat. When he took off his gear Garrett was super sweaty and hot!

You can see Jack is super hot too. We came prepared with lots of drinks and squirt bottles with water to keep everyone cool.

baseball

This was the last game of this season. Even though it was not exactly a winning season, I think Garrett had a good time. He definitely improved his skill from the first game to the last.

This is the whole team, minus 3 players who did not make it to the last game. Coach Mike is in the center back, and Assistant Coach Steve in on the left in the back. These guys were really great with the boys and really took the time to help them to learn new skills. They also really stressed that it was more about enjoying the game than winning, which I think was important.

Of course, there was a pizza party and awards were given out after the last game. We are looking forward to next season and even more learning experiences for Garrett!

1st baseball game of the season!

So this year Garrett decided that baseball was the sport to try. Today was his first game and it was a lot of fun. His team didn't win, but they all had a good time. His coach is really into making sure the kids have a good time and don't feel bad if they miss the ball or anything.

On his first at bat, Garrett hit the ball. It was a foul, but at least he made contact with the ball! And like his coach said, "We can only get better from here!"

Even the kids who hit the ball well, don't hit into the outfield very often. The boys in the outfield were all a little bored each inning.
